What will the ShiNE Awards 2008 achieve?
The ShiNE Awards 2008 will recognise the achievements, performance and improvement of the region’s 25 councils and four fire and rescue services since July 2005.

The awards will be used to help improve the performance of local authorities through the sharing of ideas, knowledge and examples of best practice.

Who organises and sponsors the ShiNE Awards 2008?
The ShiNE Awards 2008 is organised by the Association of North East Councils and sponsored by the Improvement Partnership for North East Local Government.

Who can enter the ShiNE Awards 2008
Awards are open to North East local authorities and fire and rescue services, as well as their employees.

What are the key dates?

13 September 2007 - launch of the ShiNE Awards 2008
7 December 2007 – closing date for enteries
17-18 January 2008 – judging
11 February 2008 – shortlisted candidates will be announced
6 March 2008 – awards evening
